Children’s services

We regularly hold special services which are designed to introduce children to the church, it’s services and it’s teachings. Children are a very important part of our community and we are keen to make sure that they are included and really feel a part of our family.

Our new Come and Praise service – ‘Hats on for Epiphany’ 8th January 2017

Images from our activities before the service. We made Epiphany crowns to celebrate the visit of the kings to see Jesus and, during the service, talked about the many ‘hats’ Jesus wore, representing different aspects of his character and ministry.

Sunday Club
This is a friendly group of children and a happy and willing band of adult helpers who meet  together. The group starts the service in the church with the rest of the congregation and after the first hymn they go across to the Church House for their own special Sunday Club activities, learning from the Bible, discussing and usually making something craft, after which they return to the church in time for the blessing at communion and to give a ‘show and tell’ of the work they have done. The planned activities are suitable for ages approximately 3-10 years. Younger children are welcome, if accompanied by a parent/carer. Sunday Club meets on the 4th Sunday of each month. Please come along and join us.

Come & Praise
On the 2nd Sunday of every month at 11am we have an informal shorter family service, without communion, which is full of fun and laughter, a bit of chaos and noise, but also moments of near stillness and reflection. The children join in answering questions, acting out Bible stories, lighting candles and leading prayers and singing. This is preceded at 10.30am by activities for the children in Church House linked to the theme of the service. Refreshments are served for those who have attended the 9.45am Informal Communion and those arriving for the 11am service in order to enable a chance to mix and meet each other. There is also the regular cake stall and Fairtrade stall. We would love to welcome your family.

Toddler’s Service
Twice a month on a Monday at 12.15pm there is a toddler’s service. This is a simple meeting allowing parents and carers with pre-school children to feel at home in church. We begin by helping to ring the bell and then sing a short song. We then gather for a story, prayers, a song and a simple activity. You and your children are very welcome.

Our next Toddler’s Services are 6th and 21st March.

Then they will be 3rd April, 24th April, 8th May, 22nd May, 5th June, 19th June, 3rd July. 17th July

These two youngsters enjoyed making and wearing their crowns at this week’s toddler service (14th November) when they learnt about Christ the King.

A representative from the church takes the Monday assembly each week, introducing the theme that is explored throughout the week in daily acts of worship. In addition to this, each year group has a short assembly type service in church on a Wednesday on a regular rota basis.
